Creative Wraps

Below is my daughter’s creative idea for a friend’s birthday presents. Her friend, whose party is today, loves animals. She took that idea (and the tape) and ran with it….

…and ran…

There are other photos, but you get the idea.

When was the last time you spent some quality time with construction paper, scissors, tape and your imagination…and your running shoes?

Birthday Party Creativity? …Not!

It’s a shame for my kids, I’m sure. And I certainly feel guilty. For each child’s birthday, I make these internal promises to myself that I will create an over-the-top memorable birthday. I start thinking about it months in advance.
And then….
I don’t know about you, but birthdays sneak up. The quietly creep until it’s the day before a birthday (or in this case) a birthday party and WHAM…I’m already behind.
Today’s my youngest’s 4th birthday party. We have already kind of flubbed her birthday, rolling it into a weekend holiday celebration.
And I’m not feeling creative. Or over the top. I just want her to have fun. Even if it means I didn’t order the pony, the clown, the balloons or the streamers.
She’ll have friends and presents. She’ll have chocolate cupcakes. She’ll have her family.
So, is it necessary for birthdays to also be creative?
