Here are a few questions to start off the work week: Does art impact technology or does technology impact art? Can it be both?
If you haven’t seen the June 1 New Yorker cover, it is the first cover drawn using Brushes, an iPhone app.
Gizmodo shows the video of the actual creation of the cover. It is pretty amazing, witnessing the illustration of a pretty unique New York scene illustrated in a pretty unique way. Are there other illustrations that have used this app? What else has Jorge Colombo done with this app that he knew he could create a New Yorker cover?
If I get an iPhone, will I be illustrating magazine covers? Or will I find my own creativity through using the iPhone apps? (Having seen many of the iPhone apps, will I become overwhelmed by the number of apps available…such as the Creative Whack Pack or, a personal favorite, the lighter app for concert-goers?)
Honestly, I am hoping to get an iPhone (or smartphone) to keep my life more organized, to be able to blog from the beach or playground, write and keep in touch with clients and friends. Now, I’ll consider becoming an illustrator as well.
What do you plan to become using an iPhone app or a smartphone? Any suggestions on which phone would work best for those of us who less visual and bloggy and more wordy? I’m trying to make my creativity portable.
