Structure Lends Support to Creativity

When trying to get into the flow of a creative project, it seems counter-intuitive to encourage someone to find a structure within which to work. Many think of the work of creativity as unstructured and undisciplined.
Yet, finding time daily to focus on a project–creative or otherwise–lends structure within which to create and innovate.
Try finding an extra 5 (or 10 or 30) minutes a day just for a week (or maybe two). Maybe give up your favorite television program or wake up a little earlier. Spend that extra time focused on your project. Don’t use it to check e-mails or catch up on the dishes.
Create a structure that honors your creativity.
See how the structure of that time can lead to new discoveries in your flow and creativity.

Do you already do this? What have you learned about your creativity? What happens when you miss your time? If you don’t do it, is there some reason why not–what’s stopping you from trying?
