Often being creative includes taking more risks. But risks can be scary. How do you keep your risk-taking strong and lose some of the fear? How can you practice and strengthen that muscle so that when something comes along, the risk seems less, well, risky? Start small and you can start to shift the energy for taking risks.
So take some time and figure out what you could do different today. Do you drive a different way to the swimming pool? Do you speak up when you might have kept quiet? Do you order the same item from the restaurant menu every time? Always serve the same potato salad at the Memorial Day picnic? This year, bring a macaroni salad.
That’s right. To start strengthening your risk-taking muscle today, find an action you do normally and that might be part of your routine. Determine what you could do differently…and then do it.
What did it feel like to take that risk? And what will you do tomorrow to flex that risk-taking muscle?

I will, with permission and giving credit, refer to your well written examples of how to practice making changes. I appreciate the connection between risk taking and developing our creativity. Thanks!
I love this post! I couldn’t agree more with building your risk taking muscle – for business and for personal growth.
Definitely…even doing a small change each day can help strengthen that muscle.
Thanks for your comment!
I will try out your suggestions. Cant wait to see the results. I’m saying this because I’m a creature of habit.
