As many of you know, trying to balance creativity and the rest of your life can be tough. Daily I try to live more creatively. Some days it is easier than others. Lately, I’ve been scrambling with meetings and deadlines and my days have seemed void of creative or inspirational thoughts.
In fact, even my reading became less creative and I have returned to an old standby. (However, I guess there is hope as my daughter is trying to encourage me to keep up with her in reading the Harry Potter series.) But then I’m preparing to get busier at the same time the kids are getting out of school.
Fortunately there are these little moments. The sounds that transform a bland thought into a creative one. A sentence I’ve read or a phrase the kids have said. I’m back in the land of creative thoughts.
It’s restorative.
But you have to be able to really listen to what is being said or to really be able to read what is really written. Even at your busiest times, which is one reason why I carry around a notebook. Constantly. I think it even helps me listen.
How do you slow down enough to find the creative moments? What is your biggest struggle in becoming more creative daily?
