The artist Henri Matisse is credited with the saying “Creativity takes courage.” Do you agree that creativity takes courage?

For me, creativity takes different things at varying times or cycles. Courage is probably found in one of those cycles.

Today, for example, I will head out on a mini-retreat to work on my writing. Spending the day between my printed manuscript and my keyboard. Throwing off the work of the week, I will tap into my inspiration and immerse myself in my words…and revise, revise, revise.

For me, right now, my creativity is taking time and patience.

Courage.
Time.
Patience.

What does your creativity take?

  1. For me, creativity is about finding time. There may be a million ideas in my head, and I they can’t be realized because I have no time to develop them. Devote to them. To encourage them. Creativity gets placed on the backburner, because unfortunately, many times creativity does not pay the bills.

  2. I completely agree. Creativity is a reflection of who we are and what we believe. to put that out in the world for everyone to see can be a frightening thing. It takes courage to follow through on creative dreams because they come from the deepest depths of our hearts.
