Many experts, including Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D., believe we are all born with a creative fire within us. What is your passion? How hot is your fire burning? If your fire is cooling, you might consider hiring a creativity coach to help you stoke the flames.
A certified Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach, such as myself, is trained to deal with reasons you (or someone you know) might be resisting the pursuit of creativity, or coaching in general. We look at challenges you may have and blocks you may be experiencing in all sorts of areas, whether it is a business or marketing, a diet or lifestyle change, or finishing a painting or getting past writer’s block. While creativity is personal and often an individual pursuit, creativity frequently gets “stuck” for reasons with which others are also coping.
There are many reasons you might want to consult with a creativity coach. As a starting point and in no particular order, I’ve listed ten reasons you might hire a non-judgmental and fun creativity coach:
1. Do you have difficulty returning to a project that you once loved?
2. What fears might you have in following your creative path? Do you fear that you might fail? Do you fear learning that you might uncover incompetence or you might increase unrealistic expectations? Do you fear being a success?
3. Might you be misunderstanding your creative process?
4. Do you procrastinate starting or finishing a project? Do you ever feel like you are avoiding or getting in the way of following your creative dream?
5. Do you let your self-doubt get in the way? Do you sometimes believe that you might not be “good enough” to follow your creative path?
6. When it’s time to focus on your creative pursuit, do you feel you don’t have any time? Do you think your creativity is not a priority in your life?
7. Do you not finish something because it won’t ever be perfect? Or does perfectionism prevent you from even starting a project?
8. Perhaps, before even starting, you feel overwhelmed?
9. Has it been so long that you can no longer remember what your passion is?
10. Do you ever believe that your creative path has already been taken, so why bother?
