Five years ago, a local film festival in its 10th year was approached by a local dance cooperative. What was born at Cucalorus was Dance-a-Lorus, a collaboration among musicians, dancers and filmmakers. Both Cucalorus and The Dance Cooperative are non-profit entities run by folks who are passionate about their crafts.
At the time of the suggested collaboration, one of the filmmakers involved said, he wasn’t sure how it would all work.
This year, celebrating 15 years of Cucalorus, Dance-a-Lorus has become one of the most popular and unique annual event of an already pretty unique local Uber-festival that is a popular film industry destination.
Hundreds of fun, thought-provoking films from Nov. 11 through Nov. 15…without competition laced with awards. Just an amazing collection of filmmakers, films, dancers, musicians and other creative types imbibing in their passion for film.
Last year, when I served as part of the festival’s staff, I witnessed first-hand the incredible scope of the subjects and folks involved. Truly an amazing experience.
Saturday’s events kick off with both Cucalorus Kids, introducing film-making for the younger creative set, and a third presentation of Dance-a-Lorus. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
