Make creativity plans before retiring

While many of us find fulfilling careers that we stick with for decades, during that time we often don’t pay attention to what happens after we retire. Although I have a few years left before I can retire, I was thinking about how we often do not separate our work from our life, giving our leisure time a small opening into our being.
However, with creativity an innate feature of all our lives, we should also be preparing ourselves for when work is not longer the center of our passions or of our daily lives.
Planning for transition is an important element of moving into retirement. Besides financial planning, don’t forget to also consider what creative activities to start including that you will want to bring into your retirement living.
Perhaps you want to dive into writing the next great American novel, carve out some time for woodworking, or throw yourself into pottery or painting. Are there classes you want to take? Are there supplies or a workspace you need to incorporate into your living area? Books you need to read to master your craft? Maybe you want to find a place to volunteer where you can also learn more about your creative passion.
If you start incorporating some creativity planning as you make the move into retirement, you may find the transition easier and more fulfilling.
